I am all about making your own herbal salve. Salves are a soothing blend that connects you to nature’s healing power. We’ve made Garlic Salve, Chamomile Salve, and Jewelweed Salve – all of which are incredibly useful, simple to make, and great for everyday use.
A salve is essentially a thick, oil-based balm infused with herbs that nourish and protect your skin. Whether you’re treating dry hands, minor scrapes, or rough heels, a homemade salve offers a natural, chemical-free way to care for yourself and your family. And making your own salve allows you to know exactly what’s in your skincare.
The oregano salve is a powerful, natural remedy that combines the antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory benefits of oregano. It’s one of those old-fashioned, multipurpose salves that can be used for everything from skin irritations to sore muscles.
Here’s how you can make your own oregano salve at home.

This makes about 6 ounces.
Ingredients
- Oregano
- Carrier oil – note that you can use any carrier oil. I used
grapeseed oil for this recipe. - 1 cup infused oil
- ¼ cup beeswax
- 2 oz containers
- Optional: 20 drops of essential oils

Instructions
- Start by adding oregano to a jar and filling it halfway.
- Pour the carrier oil over the herb to completely cover it. Let it infuse for a few weeks, shaking now and again. Then strain it. Here’s a quick and easy DIY on how to Make Oregano Oil.

- Once you have the oregano oil, add the infused oregano oil and
beeswax to a glass jar and melt slowly in the microwave. Be sure to mix thoroughly every 30 seconds until all is melted.

- Once melted, let it cool slightly before adding your essential oils. Note that essential oils are optional.

- Add to your 2-oz containers and let them harden overnight before putting the lid on.
