What Is St. John’s Wort?

St. John’s Wort is a hardy perennial herb native to Europe but now found in many parts of the world. The plant gets its name from St. John the Baptist, as it typically flowers around late June.
The small, star-shaped, yellow blossoms contain potent natural compounds. These active compounds are known for their anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and nerve-soothing effects.
Why Make a St. John’s Wort Salve
This healing balm can be used for burns, muscle aches, bruises, scrapes, and dry skin. It’s a natural way to support healing while keeping your skincare simple, safe, and rooted in tradition.

Ingredients

- St. John’s Wort
- Carrier oil – Any carrier oil works; I used
avocado oil . - ¾ cup st. john’s wort infused oil
- 2 tablespoons beeswax
- (optional) 12 to 15 drops of essential oil
- 2 oz tins
Instructions
- First, make an infused oil by adding the St. John’s Wort to a glass jar and covering it with oil. Let it sit for a few weeks, shaking every few days. Then strain.

- Then, melt the infused oil and
beeswax in adouble boiler . - Once melted, wait a few minutes for it to cool slightly before adding in your essential oil, if using. Stir to combine.

- Pour into your tins and leave overnight or until solid.
