Calendula is well-known for its anti-inflammatory and skin-repairing properties, making it perfect for chapped or irritated lips. This DIY calendula lip balm is a rich recipe that softens dry lips and helps them heal faster, especially during harsh weather.

Making your own lip balm is simple. You get to choose every ingredient, control the quality, and skip the additives found in most store-bought versions. Plus, once you’ve made calendula-infused oil, you can use it for so much more — from healing salves to gentle creams and cuticle balms.

Calendula Lip Balm

This makes two soaps if using the same mold.  

Ingredients

  • Calendula flowers and carrier oil for infused oil 
  • 10-15 drops of essential oil 
  • 6 tablespoons infused oil 
  • 3 tablespoons white beeswax pellets
  • 1 tablespoon cacao butter (you can also substitute shea butter instead of cacao butter). 
  • Vitamin E oil
  • Lip balm containers

Instructions

  1. Make your calendula infused oil.  
  2. Melt infused oil, white beeswax pellets, and cacao butter.

  1. Add in essential oils and a dash of Vitamin E oil.

  1. Pour into lip balm containers.

  1. Let it sit for a few hours before putting on the lid.
