We’re big fans of making our own salves, and if you haven’t tried our jewelweed salve or garlic salve yet, it’s a must! Recently, we decided to experiment with a chamomile salve. While we’ve enjoyed chamomile in tea for years, we realized it offers so much more than just a calming drink. That’s when we thought—why not make a soothing salve?
This simple yet effective chamomile salve harnesses the therapeutic properties of chamomile to create a calming balm for the skin. Just as chamomile helps to relax the mind, it can also soothe and nourish the skin when applied topically. With the addition of avocado oil and beeswax, this salve is easy to make and provides a gentle, healing remedy.

DIY Chamomile Salve
Instructions for Infused Oil:
- Add the chamomile to a glass jar, making it about halfway full. Then, add the avocado oil to fully cover the chamomile.
- Cover the jar with a lid and parchment paper and keep it in a dark spot for a few weeks, shaking occasionally. You can find a full guide on how to make and use chamomile infused oil here.
- After the infusion period, strain the oil.
- Melt the beeswax pellets and the infused oil in a double boiler or a heat-safe bowl set over a pot of simmering water until completely melted. You can also melt them slowly in the microwave at small intervals.
- Add in your drops of essential oils and mix thoroughly.
- Pour the mixture into tins and let cool for a few hours.
Once it cools, it should harden. You will then be able to use your salve.
