As a busy mom, self-care often feels like something that gets squeezed in between everything else—but I’ve learned how important it is to carve out even small moments to reset and recharge. For me, self-care doesn’t have to be elaborate. Sometimes, it’s as simple as pausing, taking a breath, and giving myself permission to relax.
That’s what inspired me to make these
They’re simple to make, require just a few ingredients, and make thoughtful gifts too. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you make your own.

Materials Needed:
- 1 cup dried lavender flowers
- 1 cup uncooked rice
- 8 drops
lavender essential oil - Approximately ¼ yard of fabric (I used scrap fabric, but any soft cotton or linen will work well)
- Fabric scissors
- Sewing machine or needle and thread

DIY Eye Pillow for Restful Night Sleep
- Cut two fabric pieces, each measuring 4.5 inches by 10.5 inches.
- Place the pieces together with the right sides facing out. Sew along one long edge, then continue sewing around the remaining sides with a ¼-inch seam allowance, leaving a small opening on one short end.

- In a bowl, mix the
lavender flowers, rice, and essential oil. You can substitute flax seeds for rice if you prefer a different texture.

- Fill the fabric pouch with the mixture until it’s mostly full, using a funnel if needed.
- Sew the open end closed to finish the pillow.

These eye pillows make great gifts or a soothing treat for yourself after a long day.
