Ingredients
- 1 bar of Fels-Naptha soap or Castile soap
- 2 cups regular baking soda
- 2 cups 20 Mule Team Borax
- 2 Cups Washing Soda
- Container with lid
- Optional Essential Oil (for smell)
Homemade Powdered Laundry Detergent
- Grate the Fels-Naptha. You can use your regular cheese grater or a food processor. If using a food processor, cut the soap into smaller chunks and pulse until it’s in small beads. Don’t completely disintegrate it! Pour the grated feels naphtha soap into the container.
- Add the remaining ingredients into the container, including baking soda, borax powder, and washing soda.
- Once everything is in the container, close it and shake it well.
How to Use Homemade Laundry Detergent
After you’ve loaded the laundry into the washer, fill your scoop to the correct line and toss it on top!
Use one tablespoon for small loads, two tablespoons for medium loads, and three tablespoons for large or extra dirty loads. Regardless of the wash temperature, the detergent dissolves.
